Our Logo Story

I designed the Pennsylvania Legacy Video logo in the middle of winter two years ago, while visiting friends on a farm in Western Pennsylvania. As the snow fell, I hunkered down in blankets and sketched on a drawing pad, contemplating how I wanted this business to look and feel.

I drew many versions of a tree adorned with hearts, inspired by my cozy and picturesque surroundings. My goal was to create a logo that reflected a sense of life and legacy, warmth and care, and growth and wisdom.

I focused on three main elements:

The Tree
Trees are universal symbols of life, family, and legacy. I chose a variation of an apple tree as a nod to Pennsylvania being one of the nation’s top apple producers. The heart-shaped apples symbolize the warmth and care shared across generations.

The Colors
I colored the leaves of the tree sage, which is one of my favorite hues; fittingly, its very name is synonymous with wisdom. I chose coral for the apples, which adds a vibrant pop of color to the design. Surrounding the tree is a sheer yellow circle, signifying warmth, creativity, and joy.

The Style
I wanted the tree to feel slightly imperfect, with a hand-drawn, “arts and crafts” aesthetic. The circle encasing the tree was inspired by the embroidery hoops my grandmother used for quilting.

I’m proud to say that this logo represents exactly how I want clients to experience Pennsylvania Legacy Video: as an inviting, warm, and creative partner in preserving their history.
