Meet Ann

Ann Adelsberger is the lead video editor and marketing manager at Pennsylvania Legacy Video. She brings decades of experience in video production and editing, documentary filmmaking, and youth and family programming to her work at Pennsylvania Legacy Video.

What is your background in video production and editing?

My introduction to video production and editing came through community media. I was interested in documentary filmmaking, but film school was not in the budget, so I joined my local public access station and learned video field production, editing and studio production. I also had the opportunity to work on productions with a wide range of people and groups in my community. I went on to run the station’s youth program, teaching and managing video production and media literacy programs for young people at the local high school, the YMCA, and other community centers.

For anyone interested in learning about media production, I definitely recommend joining their local public access or community media center. It’s the original independent media!

What do you like about making legacy videos?

We have so much to learn from older adults. Consider how much has changed about the world in your lifetime, no matter your age. Understanding the history of our families and communities is essential to moving forward in a thoughtful way. The wisdom of elders is honestly vital for our survival. As someone who has lost and grieved family members, I know that having a record of the past can be very comforting

Who were some of your favorite older adults growing up?

My mother is a very important person in my life. She passed in her early 60s, which I consider quite young. She was by all accounts, an exceptionally kind and giving person. Though she did not work in a creative field —this was not likely seen as an option for her— she was a very creative person and a wizard with the sewing machine.

What do you like to do outside video production and editing?

I also try to pursue other creative endeavors. Like my mother before me, I do like to sew: quilting, designing clothing, and up-cycling thrift store finds and salvaged fabric. My next creative goal is to (re)learn how to play the piano.

I also enjoy cycling. I’m not a mountain biker, but I’m happy climbing hills on the road!
